Biography

Harold Henry (H.H.) Rowley was born in England in March 1890. His Baptist upbringing would lead him throughout his life. Following his formal education he shared the gospel as a pastor and missionary. In 1935 he began a decade as a Professor of Hebrew. Semitic languages and Old Testament studies were his areas of expertise. He held leadership roles in the Society for Old Testament Study as well as editing the Journal of Semitic Studies. Rowley wrote more than 20 on the Old Testament and related topics. On October 4, 1969, Rowley passed away in Cheltenham, England.
