Biography

Russian Nicholas W. Orloff was a translator and a professor who immigrated to England. He translated the Slavonian edition of The General Menaion into English. This is the hymnbook of the Eastern Orthodox Church for their festivals and canonized saints. Orloff earned a Master’s Degree in St. Petersburg upon graduating from Smolensk University. Orloff taught Russian at King’s College of London. His wife’s name was Olga and they had two children. Orloff lived from 1844 to 1915.
