Biography

Mathetes was a second-century church leader following in the footsteps of the apostolic fathers. His very name is Greek for “The Disciple.” His legacy is a letter (epistle) written to Diognetus in which he warns against paganism. He has been compared to Elijah for his zealous pursuit of calling for righteousness. He has also been compared to Paul for his no holds barred approach to boldly calling for repentance even among the Jewish community practicing Judaism. Mathetes defends the faith and champions true worship.
