Clement of Alexandria (Titus Flavius Clemens) was born in Athens in 150 A.D. and died around 213. He was born into a pagan family but was converted to Christianity by one of his teachers. He was an apologist and evangelist for Christianity in a Hellenistic world. The School of Alexandria was led by Clement for many years. His most renowned writings are Exhortation, Instructor, and Miscellanies. There are other know writings of Clement including fragments of his commentary on the Bible. Clement passed the torch forward by being a teacher to future leaders among the Christian community.
