In this voyage, almost all the geographical
names are corrupted by the Latins. The modern appellation
of Chalcis, and all Euboea, is derived from its Euripus,
Euripo, Negri-po, Negropont, which dishonours our maps
(D'Anville, Geographie Ancienne, tom. i. p. 263).
