I use the familiar appellation of Clovis, from the Latin Chlodovechus or Chlodovaeus. But the Ch expresses only the German aspiration; and the true name is not different from Luduin or Lewis (Mem. de l'Academie des Inscriptions tom. xx. p. 68).
