One of his retreats was a country-house of Eunomius, the heretic. The master was absent, innocent, ignorant; yet he narrowly escaped a sentence of death, and was banished into the remote parts of Mauritania (Philostorg. 1. ix. c. 5, 8, and Godefroy s Dissert. p. 369-378).
