Trouble Desk and Suggestion Box

The Books Wanted section

You offer no explanation of what that is about or how we can help. Specifically a google search for Aristotle's Politics - shown as a Priority 5 item (why?) immediately showed up

http://talebooks.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=323&Itemid=35

as an apparent source of a free download. Or am I missing something?

How do I change the default browser for the Early Fathers DVD?

I have had Chrome as my default browser; so after I installed the Fathers disk, Chrome is what came up. But I'm having trouble with it and would like to change to IE8 or Firefox. How do I do that?

Problem with the search function

I searched for "dialogue with trypho" in your search function - first without the inverted commas, then with - and got no hits. So I went off to Google and got sent back to you:

www.ccel.org/fathers2/ANF-01/anf01-48.htm

was the first result out of Google

which is... perverse!
But we got there in the end.

Thanks to CCEL

I wasn't sure where to put this. I just decided today to stop into the forums to say thank you to CCEL. This site was a golden nugget for me when I came across it. I don't have a lot of money to invest in books and I just love that I can come here and get so much reliable information. Among other things I have made good use of Calvin's commentaries on Hosea and Jonah as well as much of Matthew Henry's works. It has been very helpful in writing essays for school and for preparing my Sunday school lessons. I love this site and the information on it.

Thanks again,

Paid Downloads not working

Even after paying for a ThML download, I'm still not allowed to do it. I've tried on both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Both times after completing a payment at Paypal, I just get sent back to the donate page at CCEL. I would really like to do my downloads. Can somebody please fix this?

The Forum Format is bad....no?

I really can't stand the forum format, maybe I'm doing something wrong or not seeing something, but I really just like to be able to see consecutive posts and instead I have to hit the back button for every single one.

PDF just showing bookmarks to the scans on website

Hi,

I just downloaded my first book (Oehler's Ot Theology) as a pdf-file. This worked just wonderfully, at least after I registered. However now all I get are pages withlittle boomarks (pagestyled) to the scan of the respective page here on the website. I'm afraid that is not much use. Can anybody help? Btw, I primarily use Adobe Reader on an Ubuntu-System, however I getthe same problem with that file when opening it in Adobe Reader under WinXP... Help would be appreciated.

ThML errors (some systematic)

In converting ThML files to ePub format I have been using epubcheck, which does a very nice systematic examination the epub book. Most of the errors I've found are directly attributable to my own XSLT errors, but I've also discovered miscellaneous ThML errors, and also some systematic ones. Having written all this out, it seems a bit negative. Obviously this is a tiny subset of the possible errors there could be; I happen to have found a lot because I've checked the output of all the ThML files systematically.

PDF optimized for SONY Readers

I just downloaded Calvin's Institutes on PDF and I am very pleased with the appearance of the PDF on my laptop. However, because the PDF uses a page-size of 8.5x11", each page gets scrunched to unreability on the SONY's 3.57" x 4.82" screen. I'm hoping for some means of remaking the PDF optimized for the SONY Reader devices. I've managed to convert several RTFs to a form that looks almost as good as purchased books on the device. I'm volunteering to do the work of creating the PDFs if you can provide the texts in some word-processor friendly format, e.g. RTF, DOC, DOCX.

typos

I don't know if this is the place to ask this question, but here goes anyway.

I noticed some obvious, and not-so-obvious, typographical errors in Holy Dying. Since there are several editions, could you tell me which one is posted here on CCEL? I don't think it would be right to use a different printing to compare, since at least one later publication even specifies it has revised and corrected a previous one.
