downloading books with CCEL Desktop

I just discovered the new CCEL layout and it looks nice. I am also trying the new 'dev' version of the Desktop.

I have been unsuccessful in using the 'dev' CCEL-Desktop to download new books. It appears that the password is not being saved in the preferences.

Manually adding book?

While I can download books using CCEL Desktop, is there a way to manually add a book I previously downloaded using just a plain web browser? It would save me time and save CCEL bandwidth. Thanks!
