Revenge

We learn from the New Testament that our God is a God of love, but in other places specially in the Old Testament God was discribed clearly as a God of revenge ( see Nah 1:2), (Eze 25: 16). Is this a matter of covenant or dispensation? Or God didn't change and still a God of revenge? If so is this contradict his loving nature?
