John 2

promises to Abraham

Regarding your post: "Israel", a thorough and learned exposition of Rom. 9-11, it was intriguing to read.
Your definition of the term 'Israel' is accurate and your conclusions provoke a couple of questions.
In your thesis, you stop short of the identification of NT Israel with the Church; was this to avoid confusion or the negative label of replacement theology?
Are God's promises to the natural seed of Abraham, the ethnic Jews, still in effect? Or have they been subsumed in the people of faith according to your thesis?
