Who died on the Cross?

Hi all,

At our mid week bible study the Pastor said that God (as in the second person of the Trinity) died on the Cross. Instinctively I believed that to be wrong, and so I checked it out, first from the Word and then from trusted sources, I ended up with R.C.Sproul saying that it was impossible for God (the second person of the Trinity) to die, and John Macarthur said that God did die on the cross.I'm hoping that someone could shed some light on the subject.

Thank you

re failure to understand

if jesus was fully god from head to toe and they all were conjoined as one, did not the whole godhead feel the suffering on the cross, they were all living in the same body, cause if they werent, they were separated and you cant divide the godhead, did they not suffer together and feel all that suffering and pain through the physical body,is it rational to say that the trinity did not feel the full suffering of the cross, and only the physical body did, but the divinity did'nt.,was not the divinity in the body of christ, the soul was from the father, was jesus no longer divine on the cross, were was the rest of the godhead, what do you think, i was just wondering. god bless
