Acts and The Body of Christ - Local to National

Basically this is just a "what do we learn about the Church from Acts?" thread. As we watch Paul and Barnabas and then Paul and Silas building the Church in Acts, what can we learn about their concept of the Church as a whole? Robert suggested my original plan was too cumbersome so asked me to create new threads.

This thread looks at the relationship between the local Church and the Church overall as seen in the Council at Jerusalem particularly (Acts 15). It discusses the role played by the council and how it dealt with the problem of the Gentiles Churches and the Jewish customs based on the Law.

Here is the starter question: "From the way this problem was both discussed and resolved (and with reference to other parts of the NT) there have been derived at least three forms of Church government. How would you see the procedures of your Church's system of government dealing with the issue (of Acts 15) if it had arisen in today's world? "

i agree with bro wade
there is only one head of the church and that is the Lord Jesus Christ
man want to usurp this position from him but man is part of the body but Christ is the only head. all parts of the body are important and serve different functions but none (not one ) should take the preeminent place, but Christ

Ephesians Ch4:4-6 .. There is
one body,and
one SPIRIT,even as ye are called to
one hope of your calling:
one faith,
one baptism,
one GOD and Father of all,who is above all, and through all, and in you all

notice the are seven ONES. 7 is the number of completeness or perfection
notice also that 7 is made up of 3 and 4
3 is the number of the divine and all the Trinity is instrumental in calling, forming and preserving the church.
4 is the number of the created world the church, with one body, one hope, one faith and one baptism is formed out of the world.note also 4 alls ..indeed God is the Almighty above all the created world

note that the church can be one only if the have the Holy Triune God infused, intertwined, internalised in the whole of its being and the ONE LORD ie the Lord Jesus Christ is right Smackbang in the midst,(right in the middle of the 7 ones mind you) and revered and honoured and obeyed as Lord of Lord and King of Kings without any person trying to claim this position.

God bless you all

yours in Christ
