Kingdom of God

I do believe John was speaking of a literal 1000 years and also fall into the group who place the writing of Revelation at the end of the 1st century after the destruction of Jerusalem. It is also my opinion one cannot study the prophecies of Revelation without including a close look at Daniel’s prophecies. Just my opinion.

I am more interested in the topic of the kingdom of God/heaven. There are several scriptural statements indicating the kingdom is right now. John the Baptist tells us “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt 3:2. Jesus is quoted as preaching the same message in Matt 4:17. Jesus then instructs the disciples to preach “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matt. 10:7. Jesus tells the Pharisees “the kingdom of God does not come with observation…for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17: 20-21. Paul then makes this statement to the Romans, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Rom. 14:17.

May the kingdom of God/heaven be two different types? I have no doubt there is a physical kingdom as Jesus refers to in John 14: 1-3. But, the kingdom can be experienced here & now by being connected to the vine, being made one with the Father and Son, living in a state of union with God – this to me is the kingdom of God. If we do not have the kingdom within us, living in union with God, then there is no need worrying about the manner the physical kingdom will come to this earth.
