In this chapter we have a further lesson on humility. One reason "God's strength is made perfect in weakness," is, when we think we can handle a situation with our own resources, we get in the way of what God would intend. I sometimes wonder whether more is done in the furtherance of God's kingdom by those who rely on God for guidance and strength than by those with extraordinary wisdom and strength of their own. "Be still and know that I am God." Brother Francis' answer, that God chose him so the world would know that what he, Francis, accomplished was by the power of God, calls to mind Jesus' own situation, born in a stable, essentially homeless and without earthly resources, no formal training, ...
