What happens to our spirits/souls after out last incarnation?

johntoh's picture

What is the determining factor? I'd assume it's after the Universe feels our spirits are evolved enough, and has learned all the lessons to learn.

What happend later? Do we get to create our own Universe else where? Do we become spirit guides?

I guess the possibilities are endless...

Care to share??

re: Re: DeMarie - Buddha

I don’t care that you pontificate in this forum with others, but I would hope that you would be a gracious representative of our faith in Christ.

What? That sounds like you're saying goodbye? I thought you were going to share?

As I said, I am not Buddhist,

Yet you're so passionate about Buddhism? Are you considering becoming a Buddhist?

but I know enough about them to know they are gracious enough in their heart to forgive your comments and not to insult your religion that means so much to you.

When did I insult Buddhism? What have I said about Buddhism that they need to forgive?

Skip: The historical documentation for the life and teachings of Jesus is far greater than the historical documentation for the life of Buddha.

Thankyou for that admission. Then my next question is, "why would you choose to believe Buddhism over Christianity?"

Quote: Gautama the Buddha was not a mythical figure but an actual, historical personality who introduced the religion known today as Buddhism. Evidence to prove the existence of this great religious Teacher are to be found in the following facts:....The Tripitaka, an unbroken record of His 45 years of Teaching is more than sufficient to prove that the Buddha really lived in the world.

I'm not trying to disprove that he lived. I believe that he lived. I just want to compare several facts:

a. Buddha doesn't claim to be God. Jesus does.
b. Buddha doesn't claim infallibility. Jesus does.
c. Buddha doesn't claim to have come to save mankind from sin. Jesus does.
d. Buddha doesn't claim that he died to bring all mankind to union with God. Jesus does.

For all those reasons, I would rather live my life as a Christian than a Buddhist. Especially since Buddhism is incompatible with Christianity. Their teachings contradict.
One prominent example is the idea of reincarnation.

One can't believe Buddhism and remain a Christian. Or vice versa.

SKIP: You are right DeMaria, I am extremely uncomfortable with the fact that you have insulted between 300-500 million people in the world with your comments and you just don’t get it.

Are you still talking about Buddhists? Or which religion do you now claim that I insulted.

Christ calls but you are turning people away with your insensitivity

Who for instance?

and to add insult to injury you have a picture of the baby Jesus as your logo.

I do? That is wonderful! Where is it? I'd love to see it!

Does the Church approve of this?

Of pictures of baby Jesus? Yes. We have a devotion to the child Jesus:

There are a lot of people that think Christ studied the teachings of Buddha.

Are you one of them? Could you provide your evidence to that effect?

The teachings are very similar. The Buddhist believe his teachings illuminated the way for mankind to cross from a world of darkness, hatred and suffering to a new world of light, love and happiness.

That isn't what Jesus taught at all. It is your or somebodies spin on Jesus' teachings.

Jesus taught the way to eternal life in union with God.

Sincerely,

De Maria
