Where are the sources you promised you could provide?

"But then your experience is a very small sample of the Vatican’s teachings and practices, even if you limit the arena in question to Quebec. So it is hardly representative or useful for making a decision."

When it comes to Vatican, my experience is a full blast experience of the papal approach to Christ teaching. Vatican knows nothing of the experience of Christ teaching, except for what happened in spite of them.
Once again your personal opinion on this issue is not enough for others to base a conclusion on. We already know your feelings on this issue. I thought you were going to come back with sources to support these feelings of yours.

So thank you Pilgrin
for stating: "The reason for referring to this study in this thread, was tied to an earlier statement by Benoit......'abuse of power by the clergy'.
By doing so, you have releived me of the burden of proof laid on me by by Micheal and somewhat Maria.
Are we to take it then that your issue of abuse of power is with regard to the child abuse sins of a small minority of Priests in the Church? If so are you not aware that this is not a strictly Catholic problem? And it makes me wonder what the references to land acquisition and crusades etc were all about since they in no way relate to this issue? Were they just the rantings of someone suffering emotional distress?

To be more accurate, what I mean by the study you brought forth and by all that I mean to say so far in this thread, is that:
"the nature of clergy is in itself abuse of power and Jesus-Christ has nothing to do with it, never did nor never will. It has been and it is in spite of the Roman priesthood that Jesus goes on saving people who are connected to Vatican, not because of their centuries old claim "to be the Church" and that "outside of their set of dogmas and practices there is no salvation."
Again a restatement of your personal opinion and nothing to support it, no scripture, no outside reputable sources, nothing. Yet I provided you many scriptures showing that a liturgical priesthood is clearly laid out in the New Testament.

When I mentionedd that the practice of liturgy to which I have been exposed to and superstition come from the same source and they add up to the same deceit from darkness in human interaction, we just have to remember that it is only since 1960 or so, that people can hear the mass in their own language. The masses could'nt understand the mass for centuries, all over the world.
This just goes to show how little you know of the Catholic Church because even during these times the Missals of the Church were produced in dual language editions for each region and nation and the parishioners could follow along quite easily.
All one has to do to confirm this is do a simple search on eBay and you will find such vintage books still for sale. Latin was retained by the Priests to ensure the rubrics in the Mass were done properly and the intent and the meaning of the official statements of the sacrament were not lost as Latin is the official language of the Catholic Church.
Any good Catholic, who attended Mass regularly knew exactly what the Priest was doing and saying on the altar.

Also, in most remote areas of Québec, it was a sin to have a bible in the house.
This simply is not true. The Catholic Church has never restricted access to properly translation Bibles and in fact it has encouraged Catholics to read the Bible daily. In our own times this can be seen by the indulgences given to Catholics for reading the Bible going back to Pope Leo XIII in 1904 and repeated by at least four other Popes. If you are going to claim such nonsense you really need to provide a reputable source for these statements.

I have been hosted, while knocking on doors to speak of the gospel as I did for over a year in 1977, by people who were excommunicated for having a bible in their house.
More nonsense. The Catholic Church does not in general excommunicate people, except theologians such as Hans Kung who may be teaching heresy. And this is done by an official statement from the Vatican so that all members of the Church can be aware of the errors they might be spreading. Individual parishioners are not officially ex communicated. Instead people excommunicate themselves by their actions. I can assure you that none of these people you may have spoken with had been ex communicated, since the Church has only officially ex communicated a handful of people around the world in the past hundred years.
I don't know where you are getting these bizarre ideas, since you don't provide the sources you promised to, but they don't know anything about the Catholic Church.
