The Book of Ezra Chapter 4, Opposition by The Elamites

Most of this Chapter will cover the opposition who see this new threat of power which The Jews seem to have as they work on the restoration of The Temple with Cyrus,Xerxes and Artaxerxes. Work comes to a stop until the Second year of reign of Darius, King of Persia.

Names like Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabbl, Rehum, Shimshai, The Elamites, those whom Osnappaar deported to Sumaria are now causing a slow down in Jerusalem with the restoration of The Temple.

Ezra 4:3-4,You may do nothing with us, Say Zerubbabel and Jeshua

As we read the next two verses of Ezra we see Zerubbabel The Head of Judah, who is the Governor of Judah and the re-builder in Jerusalem and Jeshua the High Priest in charge of The Temple both telling the Sumarians that they cannot help re-building The Temple.

3 But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of the fathers' [houses] of Israel said to them, "You may do nothing with us to build a house for our G-d; but we alone will build to the L-RD G-d of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us." 4 Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building,

The statements are pointing out that we must be prepared to stand in the face of opposition. As we resist the enemy we will also be seeing what G-d has started come to completion.

Remember Ezra finished his Torah training and was very clear in what G-d had set up and who was to do what. He had started to train the young men in what he was given in training. By reading The Word of G-d we can come to a clear understanding of the way we are to go, G-d's way.
