Exclusive Christians not following Jesus

My thought is why do so many people treat Christianity like it is the only way to know god? How many people must not know god if Christians fail so miserably at showing god to them? Is not god bigger than one system of thought about god? Why are Christians so superior to the rest of everyone else? It would be good to see Christians realize their brotherhood with other faiths found in the Truth.

But then...
...doctrines are teachings and in this context it refers to the teachings about Christ. Scripture describes becoming like Christ as a process of knowing him. We become like those we admire. Looking at Jesus we become changed into his image. So studying teachings about Christ reveals him to us more clearly.
Our faith informs our life, but our faith is informed by knowledge. But not just knowledge but knowledge of Christ. And not simply any knowledge of Christ but specifically truth. And that comes by hearing. And reading can be hearing also because a person must "hear" what the words are saying.
So it is a combination of knowing Christ through doctrine and desiring to be like him. Else, how are you going to come to know Christ if you refuse to hear teachings about him?
