The Minor Prophets
This will be a verse by verse study of a selection of The Old Testament called The Minor Prophets. This will be some of the Book we will be studying: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. We will be starting with Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther first, to start with.
The aim and goals of this group would be to help us understand the reasons for G-d's use of The Old Testament Prophets, The Nation and The People who are called The Jews, that are "the key players" in G-d's plan of Redemption for The World, but most of all why they have so much bearing on our lives today.
The list of books which we will be reading: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. We will be starting with Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther first, which covers the return from captivity of The Jews.

Ezra, whose name means "The L-rd Has Helped", was a priest an scribe in exile. He is the one who is considered to be the author but there is not total proof to be sure of this. There could be an unknown editor who did the compiling of the book for Esra.
The book of Ezra covers a time span of 80 years, and has two distinct parts.
The Persian King Cyrus, moved by G-d in his heart to allow the captives to return after 60 years of Babylonian rule.
Use this thread to discuss subjects that would take the discussion threads off topic.
Come on in and introduce yourself. Please make your self at home, and give us a small window of who you are and why you signed up for the class. We are now reading the book of Ezra. Don't be fearful that you may say the wrong thing, because we are all learning together.
--It may be helpful to state your name, age, and (briefly) general background on the "Introduction Thread" in the Group, so that other members of our study group can understand where you're coming from.
