In the Order of Worship/Service, what is essential?

I thought I'd throw this thought out into the light of day. In our various church backgrounds, what do you consider as essential in your Order of Worship and what parts are secondary (indifferent) or to say, may help and not harm a Worship Service?

What is the main reason you attend church?

I appreciate the community we have here at CCEL...

and I have learned not to be such a loner, although I sure like the private moments in the Lord. There is a heart felt connection as I read the word and reflect upon it, even if it's only 5 minutes at a time, due to a busy schedule.

I used to look down upon Liturgical Worship, but I see today I was not correct in this. It has a uniquely respectful tone for all who participate. So as a Lutheran from a Calvary Chapel background, I see all worship services as some form of practical Liturgy that prepares a person for the two chief parts of the service, that being Word and Sacrament. One may say, what about worship? What about the celibration? Worship I believe is a response to the act of the Word and sacrament being honored by His saints. So that even our responding worship is directly related to the gift of His Word (illumination) and sacrament (affirmation). So all honor truly is His and our glory is in His presence (The first thing Adam and Eve lost!). On that day I will celibrate graciously. Until then I pray my heart to continue in its joyous response of a life lived in worship.
