The Empire Strikes Back (Revelation 13)

Some good stuff in here--the Beast, his mark, the False Prophet. This should be an interesting chapter.

Overtone thinking....

Could 'overtone thinking' as you put it, especially about the book of Revelation lend itself to possibly adding to or taking away from it? (Rev. 22:18-19).

It is a difficult question to answer for me personally because we are all endeavoring to understand this exciting book - and some of us with a blessing in mind (Rev. 1:3, 22:7).

I do know that Peter said no scripture is open to private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20) which adds another layer of protection / difficulty (depending on how you look at that) to the student of the prophecies of this Apocalyptic book.

The symbols can only represent a very finite number of things (individuals, entities, nations, systems) and therefore help to pinpoint proper interpretation. In either case John's reiteration (1 John 2:27) of what the Lord promised to His disciples (i.e. the the Holy Ghost would teach us all things John 14:26) would be helpful additions to ones studies of 'The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ'.
