Actually I've never heard the phrase "The Iron Monarchy of Rome." I'm sure somebody has used it somewhere though. I don't think I've heard the horns described as civil and religious freedoms before. But what do I know?
It seems to me that people are too ready to declare that the symbols mean this or that without any real support for what they say, but you could be right for all I know.
I once met a fellow on the internet who said John Kennedy is the antichrist. Kennedy was a powerful political leader because he was president of the U.S. He was Catholic and this fellow said the Catholic church was the beast. He was shot in the head and he said that's what Revelation 13:3 was talking about. He said Kennedy would come back to life as the antichrist just like in Rev 13.
I don't agree with the guy, but I can't prove him wrong either. But God gives us a free will and we can believe anything we like can't we? I hope that we aren't found guilty of Rev 22:18 though.
What can be accepted as truth isn't different from what was taught to the early church in the apostolic tradition.
