Should we read other religious books to appreciate more Bible??

can you please clarify this....
I was reading to this article " we Should read other religious books to appreciate more Bible"
Is it Biblical???
these are my thoughts
In Mark 10:17, a man comes and Calls Jesus "Good Teacher"
in verse 18 Jesus says "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone."
That young man considers Jesus as a "Good Teacher" by comparing all Jewish leaders,Pharisees,Teachers.but Jesus says..."Look, don't you know that if I am good, as you say, then I am therefore God?"

Here i think ,Jesus was saying don't compare others and say that I'm Good.
and this applies to our "Holy Bible " as well.....

I would really appreciate if you give your thoughts
