Why is the Bible True and other Scriptures False?

This has been a question that has plagued me for a long time, especially given my extensive study of other scriptures in addition to our own and my thorough study of historical/critical reflection on the Bible.

It seems to me either:

A. we must ACCEPT the premise "our scripture is true, theirs are not" on FAITH alone
B. we must DEMONSTRATE the premise "our scripture is true, theirs are not" RATIONALLY.

I would relish hearing a sound and sane discussion on this issue.

Thank you.

In Christ

Groups are just as easily swayed

Because most people don't think for themselves, we have to be careful about checking our interpretations of the Bible against the mainstream. Having said that, you are absolutely right in that it really is quite easy to deceive yourself without some outside standard to measure yourself against.

But if we take ancient Jews as an example, we know that their religion was in itself a true revelation from God, but even in their scholarly interpretations, they exchanged the truth of God for a lie. Jesus of course set them straight with a better understanding, but what this shows is that the interpretations of mainstream religious institutions are not correct by default, but by likelihood.

How do I know if my interpretations are from God? I just try to be as self-critical as I can, rather than be self-justifying. Its better to be overly critical of one's self so that we can be more open to correction. Thus far, that standard has worked well for me.
