Why is the Bible True and other Scriptures False?

dgshaw's picture

This has been a question that has plagued me for a long time, especially given my extensive study of other scriptures in addition to our own and my thorough study of historical/critical reflection on the Bible.

It seems to me either:

A. we must ACCEPT the premise "our scripture is true, theirs are not" on FAITH alone
or
B. we must DEMONSTRATE the premise "our scripture is true, theirs are not" RATIONALLY.

I would relish hearing a sound and sane discussion on this issue.

Thank you.

Guidance and Interpretation

Stephen_D in your last paragraph you write: “This is also why it doesn't much matter which version of the Bible you read, provided you seek the Lord's guidance in your interpretation of that version.”

How can you be sure the guidance you receive is from the Lord and not the Evil One? This is why it is important to confirm your guidance with other believers/community/spiritual director. It is easy for individuals to be deceived.

Good luck with your searching.

God bless

Martin
