Loutzenhiser's picture

This thread is for the discussion of secular/pagan Xmas problems and thoughts. I used Xmas to differentiate this thread form the Christmas thread. To discuss the birth of Jesus please use the Christmas Thread.

The Better Question?

Is the Church commanded to celebrate?
Is the Church commanded to maginify the Lord?
Is the Church commanded to remember the wonderful acts and the mighty saving deeds of God?
Is the Church called to offer thanksgiving to God?

The Church calendar is of inestimable value in helping us all fulfill the above commands. Sure there are no commands in the NC to observe certain days. But....what richness it adds to our life of obedience.

And so what if December 25 is not 'the day'? For centuries now the Church has had a wonderful remembrance and joyful celebration of the Nativity.
