Loutzenhiser's picture

This thread is for the discussion of secular/pagan Xmas problems and thoughts. I used Xmas to differentiate this thread form the Christmas thread. To discuss the birth of Jesus please use the Christmas Thread.

Jeff said:

"If you can show me that Jesus was born on the 25th of December and that God commands us to keep that day holy, and the objects surrounding it, then I would have a different attitude toward the institution of Christmas. But as it stands right now Christmas and the tree are merely objects men have venerated to a place of holiness that God has not ordained. So I reason it is idolatry. If it were like Thanksgiving I would not complain. But Thanksgiving is not a holy day, even though it is called a holiday--a word derived from "Holy Day.""

No one can show you much of anything, Jeff, as regarding the Faith . . . as you already have your mind made up that there is no authority on earth other than your own self whenever it comes to the interpretation of Scripture as you see and understand it.

You do not accept that the Church has any whatsoever authority to Bind in Heaven and on Earth . . . and so . . . you don't believe any man . . . and especially you don't accept or believe any instituted Church of men . . . but only believing whatever you can come up with on your own from the Book which only you can interpret . . . ignoring the reality that . . . of course . . . thousands just as Bible oriented as yourself . . . all coming up with their own interpretations as well.

It is no good to even argue or tell you anything since this is your belief system.

You acknowledge no man but yourself . . . unless he should happen to agree with you.

The old Covenant had a Sabbath.

So does the New Covenant.

These are different for good purpose.

CHRIST Rose from the dead on Easter Sunday . . . which became the Day of the LORD and becoming the usual day of the Breaking of the Bread and the gathering of the assembly of GOD's People in the New Covenant . . . but this establishment of a New Sabbath not being by Scripture per se . . . but mainly by the Authority of the Church in Her establishing of Her practices.

Either the Church has . . . as CHRIST said . . . 'All Authority and Power in Heaven and on Earth has been Given to me by MY FATHER . . . and I Give it unto you . . ." . . . etc . . . my paraphrase . . . or CHRIST was lying . . . and we both know that CHRIST never ever lied about anything.

You don't accept anything from the Church . . . and are in fact your own Authority when you self-interpret the Book in a way contrary to the Church which CHRIST Sent to Teach and Preach to the ends of the earth and to the ends of time.

Sunday has been the Sabbath of the New Covenant from the beginning of the Church.

But you do not have to believe or accept that.

GOD Bless you and us too.
