This thread is for the discussion of secular/pagan Xmas problems and thoughts. I used Xmas to differentiate this thread form the Christmas thread. To discuss the birth of Jesus please use the Christmas Thread.

re: Respsonse to re: Pagan

Hi Jeff,

Thus, they "bow" to worship the tree rather than God by spending more time adorning the tree than they do in prayer so that they might adorn their lives.

"spending more time adorning the tree than they do in prayer"

That is a presumption on your part. You have no way of knowing whether the Miller's or anyone else who adorns a Christmas tree spends more time doing so than in prayer.

And in cultures where prayers can be expressed in works, such as my own, our decorating of a Christmas Tree is a prayer offered to Christ. Not to the tree.

Besides, your statement impugns everyone who loves to keep a neat house and a beautiful garden. Many, many people spend a great deal of time adorning their homes, gardens and cars and even themselves. Are you saying that they are all pagans adoring material things? I don't believe that.

Bowing down before an inanimate object doesn't mean one adores that object. There are many people who kneel everyday to prune their flowers. They aren't worshipping the flowers. In taking care of them, they are being grateful to the Almighty God who provided them.

Or are you saying that you can't tell the difference between Jesus Christ and a fir tree? I know I can.
