The Revelation of Jesus Christ (Chapter 1)

Alright. Here we go--the first chapter of Revelation. Highly charged imagery, dense Jewish symbolism, intense cultural and religious pressure, and a rich history of literature collide, producing (in my opinion) the greatest spiritual vision in the Christian experience. If you can enter into this vision, you will see Christ.

punishment

Justin,
I had to post this, as I love the way that you always refer to the oppression of the Jewish people as God's punishment. So many of us fail to realize that all things are in His hands, and He alone determines the course of events.
We choose so many times not to believe a God of love, would not only allow, but orchestrate this.
The Bible says God alone determines leaders and rulers. Some in the form of a blessing, and others as punishment.
We would be wise to see this.
Even though the physical may seem so harsh, the spiritual implications can be a blessing! If we but turn from our wickedness, He does repent of punishment many times, and provides a way out. Liberty and freedom, maybe not physically, but spiritually! Praise God, that He always points us in the right direction, we but need the ears and eyes to see it, and act upon it.
As we shall see in the next verses, punishment, or blessing! Christ provides the way, and even gives plenty of explanation for it!
