The Revelation of Jesus Christ (Chapter 1)

Alright. Here we go--the first chapter of Revelation. Highly charged imagery, dense Jewish symbolism, intense cultural and religious pressure, and a rich history of literature collide, producing (in my opinion) the greatest spiritual vision in the Christian experience. If you can enter into this vision, you will see Christ.

Agree - Name not important

Jorn writes:
According to Easton's Bible Dictionary-

"LEGION - A regiment of the Roman army, the number of men composing which differed at different times. It originally consisted of three thousand men, but in the time of Christ consisted of six thousand, exclusive of horsemen, who were in number a tenth of the foot-men. The word is used (Matthew 26:53; Mark 5:9) to express simply a great multitude."

Matthew 26,5: Don't you think that I could call on my Father, and he would send me more than twelve legions of angels now? (ISV)

If we go by the six thousand horsemen, he's talking about 72,000 of them ... or a lot.

Grizzly Bear writes:
Yes if we talk of ordinary angels, there must be a multitude. If the idea of everyone having a guardian angel is correct, there must be billions of angels.

I should have been more specific in my previous post , as I was refering to Arcangels.

Jorn writes:
But then if it were important, I suppose he would have mentioned him by name.

Grizzly Bear writes:
I agree. The fact that he is an angel denotes who gave him the authority, beyond that his name is apparently not an important fact.
