Alright. Here we go--the first chapter of Revelation. Highly charged imagery, dense Jewish symbolism, intense cultural and religious pressure, and a rich history of literature collide, producing (in my opinion) the greatest spiritual vision in the Christian experience. If you can enter into this vision, you will see Christ.

7 Archangels mentioned and named
Grizzly Bear writes:
As I remember it, the Bible references only two angels by proper name. Michael (the Warrior), and Gabriel (the Messenger). In the (Catholic) Apocrypha; 2 Esdras 4:1 mentions an angel named Uriel. Tobit 5:4 mentions one named Raphael. I'm not Catholic so I'm not well versed in the Apocrypha. There could be more I haven't found.
Actually Tobit 12:15 mentions seven archangels
Tob 12:15 For I am the angel Raphael, one of the seven, who stand before the Lord.
This verse is pretty easily associated (by some commentators) with the seven spirits before the throne in Rev 1:4
Rev 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia. Grace be unto you and peace, from him that is and that was and that is to come: and from the seven spirits which are before his throne:
and Rev 8:2
Rev 8:2 And I saw seven angels standing in the presence of God: and there were given to them seven trumpets.
The names of the seven are given (based on numerous sources) as Michael (Dan 10:13, Dan 10:21, Dan 12:1, Jude 1:9 and Rev 12:7), Gabriel (Dan 18:16, Dan 9:21, Luke 1:19 and Luke 1:26), Raphael (Tob 3:25 and 12:15), Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and Jerahmeel, (who are all listed in the book of Enoch) while from other apocryphal sources we get the variant names Izidkiel, Hanael, and Kepharel instead of the last three in the other list.

If you are working from the Old and New Testament Only perspective, I think Gabriel would be the more likely choice. But I don't think that necessarily eliminates the possibility that God has more angels than we know about.
I agree Gabriel is the most likely choice.
