The Easter Bunny and other secular/pagan Easter practices

Just who is this Easter Bunny? Where did he come from? How did he get into Christ's resurrection? Should Christian's participate? What other secular/pagan Easter practices are in Christ's Resurrection? For discussions on the Resurrection of Christ then please use the Passover thread.

There probably is some exact
There probably is some exact answer but my opinion is the bunny represents the fecundity of spring PLUS, in more modern times (since the beginning of the advertising age), a convenient, cute, marketable, mostly neutral character to base loads of marketing on. I think people have celebrated the end of winter/beginning of spring for as long as people have lived in non tropical climates. I don't see any connection whatsoever to Christ's resurrection other than the coincidence of timing for the marketing/sales pitch that businesses take advantage of at every opportunity.
I think Christians can participate but it is very much like the secular happenings at Christmas time that really have nothing to do with Christianity.
Don't mean to sound anti business but I just get tired of every single day of the year getting turned in to some excuse for people to try and get me to buy stuff...
