The Book of Life

The Bible speaks about "The Book of Life".

Is your name in it?
Can you know for sure if your name is in it?
Can you tell when it was written therein?
If your name gets blotted out, can it be written in again?

I wonder who wrote the article in Christianity Today

Dan Fugett said -
Do I understand one exception correctly? Did the Roman Catholic church also recently (in the last 100 years) decree that Jews who do not accept Jesus as their Savior are already written in the Book of Life? As I understand this, the basis of this decree is the promise of God to Israel.

"Thus, while the Catholic Church regards the saving act of Christ as central to the process of human salvation for all, it also acknowledges that Jews already dwell in a saving covenant with God. "

I am trying to see some kind of biblical consistency in the decrees. A Jewish baby that dies has their name already in the Book of Life, but a non-Jewish baby which dies without their parents getting them Baptized would go to Limbo?

I think you are misinterpreting the source of the statement from Christianity Today (if it was a Catholic source) or else they were mistaken in their opinion.

It is not the position of the RCC that anyone is automatically in heaven because of their descendency or any covenant they may or may not be a part of. This of course is consistent with the belief that salvation is determined after our death not during our life.
