Practical Mysticism - CHAPTER VI - LOVE AND WILL

l.craddock's picture
"Only the real, say the mystics, can know Reality, for “we behold that which we are,” the universe which we see is conditioned by the character of the mind that sees it: and this realness—since that which you seek is no mere glimpse of Eternal Life, but complete possession of it—must apply to every aspect of your being, the rich totality of character, all the “forces of the soul,” not to some thin and isolated “spiritual sense” alone."

Hi Lou-

I think we can will ourselves to see the Christ in each person. When we realize that He is truly in that person- a share of His spirit, we have no other recourse than to try to love that person- help them when needed, especially when we grow in our faith and in the knowledge of God. When this happens in a profound, deep sense within us.. then it is the love of God that compels us to love.

To see God in the designs of the world around us and the love with which He created and the beauty of things and variety that only proves of His immense love for us - so that we can begin to understand how He wanted to surround us with beautiful things. This alone, would want us to know our Creator more and more and as we do, we realize that we are made to love and to be loved - not only in a physical sense but in a spiritual and joyful way and to share that with all.
