Bible written and compiled by NON-PROTESTANTS

This thread could lighten up the tone.

OK. So it should be read like on of those "National Inquirer" headlines. Lots of drama!

"Bible written and compiled by NON-PROTESTANTS!!!"

Eveyone goes, "HUUUUUHHHHHH!!! OOOOOOHHH!!!"

But we all know it is obvious because there were no Protestants alive and there would not be for ___________ years (that's the trivia question--two points).

Basic thought:

Does modern Protestant thought, in and of itself, contain assumptions that are 'alien' to that of the Biblical authors and compilers?

Put another way, are we predisposed to misunderstanding scripture because of our more recent and 'reactive' theological tradition ?

1) IF NOT...INDICATE WHY.
2) IF SO...WHAT ARE THEY AND HOW DO WE ADDRESS THEM?

I know it sounds 'odd.' But I wonder what people think.

To narrow the scope we can focus on NT era as a contrasting era of authors and compilers. (ie: "...the New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament and the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament...").

PS-Got to have the word 'alien' in all National Inquirer headline.

The Bible

Men under the Holy Inspiration of God wrote the Bible. The Old Testament in Hebrew, the New Testament in Aramaic (the language primarily spoke by Jesus). Since that time there has been hundreds of individual books of the "Bible" written, and many language translations. Only a few (66 books) were selected for "cannonization" by church leaders. An interesting fact about perhaps the most popular translation, The King James, is that King James was not even Christian at the time. All he wanted when he demanded the translation was that the Catholic and Protestant stop arguing.
One scripture I find interesting is from the Gospel of John 21:25, the last verse in John. Especially when I hear the Discover Channel has found a lost book of the Bible.
Two things I feel important to discuss is John 3:3 were it is Jesus states the Kingdom of God cannot be understood “except that a man be born again.” The Greek “eidō” is better translated as “understand.” Therefore, (John 3:3) “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
The other thing is that a person must rely up John 16:13(a) where it is written: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…”
