CCEL program still won't run: "server failed to initialize"

Hello,

I have Java 6 Update 3, and all the other necessary specs, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even with Windows Firewall off, the program won't run. When I try, a small window pops up, saying "Launching" then "Server failed to initialize." Any ideas on what's wrong? Thanks in advance.

Try installing the CD first, and then install the update. That should allow you to install books locally from the CD, and the update should fix the "Server cannot initialize" problem.

Simply moving books into the CCEL books directory won't work (as you are aware) because the program keeps a separate list of which books it knows about and which ones are installed.
