To what extent do we as humans have free will and to what extent has God predestined our lives?
I have been reading many of these posts -- mainly because I see good arguments on both sides of the issue. Personally I do not consider myself either fully Calvinist or Aminianist. In fact most of my Christian life I have purposely ignored this ongoing debate.
So here is the question: Assuming God is prescient, He obviously knew this debate would go on for centuries with no clear "winner." I am guessing if you lined us all up it would be about 50/50 or close to it regarding this debate. Why would God not make this topic crystal clear if He knew it would cause such argument and division?
Yes, I know there are other scripture portions that also have been debated ad nauseum,, but this one seems to be the grandaddy of all. Why all this strife? It doesn't seem like it is a salvation issue, depending on which side one falls. And it also seems that both sides cannot possibly be correct, except in some of the minor points.
I'm no Bible scholar. I'm just wondering..........
