Witness of Reason and Nature to an All-Wise and Beneficent Creat

Just this morning in the church service our minister was explaining that the God who is found in nature or in oneself, is the God of non-Biblical piety. But the God of the Bible need not exist as Super-essence. He is ever working in and through people to establish the kingdom of God on earth. God should move us to action by pulling at our conscience, rather than being found as a sort of Divine substance behind mother nature. Such a God is the god of heathendom. Such is the god of New Age and similar movements. I am writing these comments without having read the book with the above title. But the title suggests a typically eighteenth and nineteenth century concept of God as a divine essence behind nature Whose hand can be detected in the workings of created nature. I would not believe in such a god. I think, with good reason, Barth has stated that religion is superstition (Religion ist Aberglauben).
