Provoking people to riot

Heard pundits (even conservatives) say that the police should not confront people for smaller crimes because it could erupt into something both sides will regret. I recall that this is exactly how New York City reduced its crime rate--it arrested people for minor offenses e.g. jumping subway turnstyles. The thought was that if they showed a disregard for minor laws they would probably also have a disregard for other laws. Turns out they were right. Those arrested often had outstanding warrants or their DNA or fingerprints proved evidentiary.

There's a verse in James which reads, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." A disregard for the least significant law of God--or, that law which is regarded as least of all--demonstrates that the heart is not in harmony with God's will and thus proves contempt for the entire law of God.

Another point: Scripture also tells prophetically that a time will come when they call good evil and evil good. It has come to that point where things that displease God are excused as socially accepted norms--effectively saying that what God has called evil we are pronouncing "not that bad", or good.

Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions. -Proverbs 18:2 NIV
