Leave your thoughts on Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire here
It seems to me that similar conditions exist today in America that were characteristic of the Roman Empire during its decline and fall. For example, the bread and circuses that kept their culture occupied; the free bread of the welfare state and entertainment of the television media, sports industry and Hollywood. Likewise, one of the main reasons the Roman Empire fell was because they taxed and spent their economy to the point of collapse; the exact same economic problems we have now with the debt and so called fiscal cliff. Another parallel is the decline of the military where they became so compromised that it was only a matter of time before the barbarian hordes overran them. If liberals in our government keep shrinking our military, then what is to stop the emerging superpower of China from dominating us or the invasion of Islamic fascists and sharia law. Lastly, Roman society had become so decadent and self indulgent that perverse sexuality was practiced publicly much like the airing of afternoon TV talk shows celebrating America's sexual dirty laundry and loose morality. All this social, political, cultural and economic decline can be attributed to a shift away from a Judeo-Christian worldview, drift from the moorings of our founding Fathers in the constitution and the ascendancy of secular progressives to the seats of power in our government. This is the society that liberals have been pushing on the US in the last 100 years. At what point will it be too late for us to wake up and turn back and our republic falls like the Roman Empire did?
