Type and Shadow & The Holy Spirit

I would like your feedback on this statement (and/or doctrine) that the Law of God is type and shadow of the Holy Spirit, that He is the "law" God Promised to put in our inward parts:

Jeremiah 31:33-34 (KJV)
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The Law was originally written on stone, and without the Holy Spirit within the believer (as He is now) God's ability to convict the conscience from within was possibly nil. The Law written on stone guided the Covenant member from without, but now that the Law/Holy Spirit is within the believer He can now lead and guide the believer from within.

I can add more thoughts but let me just get some feedback on what I have said so far and let's see where my edification lies.

Or my correction.

Let it be known that I believe the above. So, the challenge is to you to show me I am in error. I will defend this as I know and in the light I presently have, so don't think me in error outright. I am in testing mode on this question.
