"Extraneous" space

In a book that I am currently editing, I see in the page scans that there is usually a space before semi-colons, colons and question marks. Does this "extra" space need to be enforced in the book by adding the html code of " " ?

Yes, we are a little hidden because we are not a general forum, but rather one of the two "Volunteer" groups in the drop down menu under community. Be sure to submit your name for membership in the forum so you get any e-mails that will keep you apprised of what's happening. For example, sometimes the big folks have a way of saying "thank you" for your help.
