What is Apostolic Succession?

What about "the Great Schism?"

Seems there is some confusion as to what line apostolic succession followed at the Great Schism in 1054. After looking at this more it seems more logical that it followed the Greek rather than the Latin line. Looks as if Rome's claim of supremacy caused this schism.

Of course, Rome could claim that it was the Orthodox church's refusal to accept the Pope of Rome as the supreme Pontiff which caused the schism. But if you follow history the church was moved from Rome to Turkey much earlier. Then Rome was strengthened and aided by Turkey only to have it turn around and attack Constantinople in an effort to force them to accept the supremacy of the Pope of Rome as ruler of all the earthly episcopal sees in Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem.

Emperor Justinian had his hand in this too by mention of the Bishop of Rome in an exalted way in the code of law.

But either way, should we accept the rule of anyone based on their claim to own that authority or should we accept only those who are true to the Word of God?
