Andrew Murray's 'Absolute Surrender'

Hello

I am a 59 year old English believer who began the search for her Maker at age 13 years, despite being raised in an atheistic home. Ten years later I found Him, on the cross, but soon after went through many struggles, failures and abandonments until I learned the secret of abiding, that is, to see myself as on the cross with Him, being united with Him in His sufferings. My theology has developed from reformed to traditional holiness and I most identify with the teachings of early Quakerism.

I will be leading the group study on Murray's book and here is my introduction ;

Christian Mysticism: A study on Practical Applications

Mysticism is the art of union with Ultimate Reality. The mystic is a person who has attained that union in greater or less degree; or who aims at and believes in such attainment.

We have just finished studying the Cloud of Unknowing, by an anonyumous early English author, probably a monk, and originally intended for monks, but now widely appreciated by mystics of various descriptions. Those who are just joining this group might consider reading through that book and this group's comments on it, either before or in addition to our present study. The threads to our discussion of this book, and the book we studied before it, Practical Mysticism, by Evelyn Underhill, are still available at this study group site, you can just scroll down to them.

We are presently studying the Little Flowers of St. Francis of Assisi, by Ugolino, and the Scale (or Ladder) of Perfection, by Walter Hilton.
After we have finished studying the Little Flowers we will follow it by studying the Dark Night of the Soul, by Saint John of the Cross, and when we have finished studying the Scale we will study the Fire of Love , by Richard Rolle of Hampole.

Interactive Daily Devotional Journal

Have you ever wanted a way to track and keep a devotional journal? Something easy to do! What about if it were Interactive? How bizarre it would be to see how others feel about the same topic? The idea of it being new every morning!

This is an unusual place. It is more a sanctuary, quiet and beautiful, for it’s color and light. A place where we sit together, yet encounter God alone, a place of prayer, reflection and quiet confession. A place where we see ourselves as we are today at this moment, how God views us and how we will be in the ageless future.

Prayers Warriors and the Prayers of the Faithful

Hello to all-

This is a group that is vital to the Christian life. This is a group of God’s saints that pray for the good and necessities of all. This is a non-denominational prayer group. It is not only that but it is a group where one can come to and give God praise and thanks. Many are moved to praise and glorify, to acknowledge dependence, to worship and adore. In them, we might find words that will inspire us and fill us with love for Our Creator and Lord.

Preparing for Lent! Why?

Having been in more or less the Arminius Camp for over 25 years, I found the Lord calling me to serve within a Conservative Lutheran Church, which is as you guessed, reformed. I like the balance the history of the church has labored over since 1530 AD. It has a great stability that is comforting to me. But I still have questions about some church traditions and holidays.

The Book of 2nd Peter

First, a little about me. I am a Roman Catholic Christian, and take for granted that the Sacraments of the Church and the historic episcopate are an inseperable consequence of the Gospel, though I do give Reform theologians a great deal of credit for confronting the Medieval Church.

The Book of Hebrews

Hello and welcome to the group, this is one of the most fascinating epistles in the new testament. We are going to be going through each chapter in detail, and laying out what it is telling you. I have read this book and it seems every time I go back to do some research it tells me something new. they say that this letter was wrote by Luke the physician with Paul's insight. That the reason why they did not sign it was that the Jews would not listen to neither Luke or Paul. In this epistle is the very way our life's should resemble the Lords.

The Minor Prophets

This will be a verse by verse study of the section of the Old Testament called The Minor Prophets, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. We will be starting with Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther first.

The aim and goals of this group would be to help us understand the reasons for G-d's use of Old Testament Prophets, The Nation of people who are called The Jews, who are the key players in G-d's plan of Redemption for The World, but most of all why they have so much bearing on our lives today.
