上帝降生一仟九百十三年重印

This is scanned (ccel.org) from a 238 page photocopy of a modern reprint of a classical Chinese Horologion published by the Russian Ecclestiastical Mission in Peking (Beijing) in 1913. The original was taken from the Mission to Moscow in 1946. The Library of Institute for Far East Affairs in Moscow has also created a cd-rom Macintosh edition of the Horologion. This information is courtesy of the priest Dionisy. Also, the troparia and kontakia of Sunday Oktoech in this edition is the same translation found in the complete Sunday Oktoech from Harbin.

Also included here is a scan (ccel.org) of a photocopy provided by Jeremias Norman who copied an abridged horologion in Harbin with the permission of Fr Gregory Zhu. This text was handwritten using brush calligraphy in vernacular Chinese probably in the 1930s or 40s with later additions and corrections done in pen by another hand for personal use. It was found covered with years of dust underneath the reader stand along with other liturgical texts such as the Paschal service, obviously from a lack of use since before the cultural revolution.

Eventually, these classical and early modern Chinese Orthodox horologia can serve as reference text to create a modern Chinese Horologion. If you are interested in transcribing or Chinese OCR from the png image files, please contact mitrophan@orthodox.cn.
