Biography

Paulus Orosius lived from 385 to 420 AD. Orosius was a Roman priest and Christian apologist. In the Roman Empire Christians were under attack by those who practiced paganism and those who believed the Christians were responsible for the 410 attack on Rome. St. Augustine was an inspiration to Orosius. Orosius’ knowledge of theology and history enabled him to produce the Seven Books of History Against the Pagans. This became the first comprehensive history of the world from a Christian perspective.
