Noel, Gerard Thomas, a clergyman in the
Church of England, was born December 2,
1782. He was educated at Edinburgh and
Cambridge, He was successively curate of
Radwell, vicar of Romsey, and canon of
Winchester Cathedral. He died at Romsey
February 24, 1851. He was a brother of
the noted divine, Rev. Baptist W. Noel.
He published two volumes of sernions and
compiled a hymn book, A Selection of
Psalms and Hymns, 1810. Only two or
three of his hymns are in common use.
