CHAPTER IX.

SECOND COURSE OF EXTENDED LABOURS IN GALILEE.

SUCH was the affiliation of parties throughout Judea, that the opposition which the Pharisees stirred up against Christ at Jerusalem, soon made itself felt throughout the country. A new epoch of his ministry therefore began.

The charge of heresy and blasphemy having spread into Galilee, Christ was led to unfold, in a connected discourse, the relation which existed between the old stand-point of the law and the new era of the kingdom of God introduced by himself. His exposition was adapted to the capacities of his hearers at the time, and, therefore, did not include the circle of truths which was afterward to be revealed, through the Holy Spirit, in the progress of the kingdom.
