Biography

Few Americans would be able to list all the Presidents of the United States but most Americans know about the sixteenth president. Abraham Lincoln is engraved on the penny; his stovepipe hat and bearded square jaw are iconic. His Gettysburg Address has been memorized by many a student. Born in 1809, Lincoln went from log cabin to the White House. Commander in chief of the Northern states during the Civil War, his words carried a lot of weight. The Emancipation Proclamation, The Gettysburg Address, and presidential debates and speeches had varied effects on people. The1865 assassination of Lincoln rocked our entire nation. His life and work left an enduring mark on America.
